There are FOUR basic types of Fax Machines. Here is a brief description of each to help you locate your Fax Supplies.
Thermal Paper Fax The oldest type of fax uses rolls of thermal (heat) sensitive paper, with not Ribbon, or Cartridge. The paper is not very stable, and is very thin.
Plain Paper Faxes with Thermal Ribbons Probably the most common type fax in use in small business. This type of fax uses plain "copier" paper, and has a film ribbon about 9 inches wide, and about 400 to 450 feet long. This ribbon is held in a plastic cartridge, and in most machines you can either replace just the ribbon (ie., refill) in the old cartridge, or you can buy a new cartridge with ribbon already installed. The ribbon can oly be used once. About 450 pages can be printed from on ribbon.
Plain Paper Color Faxes These machine use either an inkjet or laser print engine to prodce a full color output. Most are inkjet, and most of those are "Multifunction" machines capable of actins Printers, Copiers, Scanners, and Fax Machines. These machines use standard inkjet cartridges, or laser tomer cartridges.
High Volume Black Fax Machines The fourth category of Fax is a Laser Toner fax, with only Black toner. Normally they are more expensive than Thermal Ribbon Plain Paper Faxes, and many can also scan and copy. Most have multipage feeders.
